Application Types
There are several application types. Each application type is defined below. Please be sure to complete the correct type of application at calbaptist.edu.
Degree-seeking: An application for a student who is seeking a credential or an associate, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree.
Re-admit: An application for a student who is returning to CBU to complete a degree program after missing one or more mandatory semesters of attendance.
Pre-college Credit: An application for a student taking college coursework as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior high school student.
Special Student: An application for a student who is not working toward a degree at California Baptist University. As an alternative to regular admission, an applicant may be considered for admission with permission from the Program Director under Special Student status. Special Students may enroll in no more than a total of six (6) graduate units. To continue beyond six (6) units, students must complete program application requirements and be accepted to a specific graduate program. Enrollment as a Special Student does not guarantee or imply later admission to the graduate program, however, credit for the courses may be counted toward graduation requirements following admission to the graduate program. Certain courses may have restrictions and/or prerequisite requirements.
Audit: An application for a student who is taking courses not for credit at California Baptist University. For more information on auditing a class, please see the Academic Information section of this catalog.
Transcripts
Official transcript(s) must be original transcript(s) in a sealed envelope or in an electronic format sent directly from the school or authorized third party. The full name on the transcript must match the applicant’s/student’s name on file. The name on file must be the applicant’s/student’s legal name according to the Social Security Administration or a valid passport. Any deviation will require proof of a legal name change unless it is a married last name change (only) and was originally disclosed on the student’s application. All records not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
Terminology
First Name: Legal First Name as documented by the Social Security Administration or a valid passport.
Last Name: Legal Last Name as documented by the Social Security Administration or a valid passport.
Sex: Biological sex assigned at birth.
International Student: An on-campus student studying on a valid non-immigrant visa status or a non-US citizen taking courses outside of the United States.
Application Deferral: Admitted students may defer their acceptance for up to one full academic year without needing to re-apply (if space allows and with program approval). Deferred students may retain their original scholarship (if applicable). Exclusions apply for select academic programs.
Change of Degree Program: Admission to graduate studies at California Baptist University is degree specific. Students wishing to change degree programs must apply for the desired program. No evaluation or credit toward the new degree will be granted until admission to the new program has been approved.
